Therapy Horses for People suffering from PTSD – Coming Soon We will be offering a program that will help individuals suffering from PTSD. PTSD is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. What comes to mind when you hear PTSD? Your mind goes right to our Military Veterans who have had a traumatic experience in battle. While these individuals do experience PTSD, PTSD is also experience by anyone who experiences traumatic stress in a situation in which the brain changes in an attempt to protect the person. The brain will make changes to cope with what they have just experienced. When someone suffers from PTSD, their relationships suffer, things and people they once trusted becomes strangers, hard to trust.
In Our program we use relationship as a vehicle of change. The relationship is created with a horse. The individual learns again how to develop a relationship with horses who are most like us emotionally. As the horse, we have a Flight, Fight, or Freeze instinct. When a person experiences a traumatic event, they can get stuck in one or all three instinctual mind sets.
